Global logistics specialist Dimerco successfully streamlined the total freight transportation process for the delivery of components crucial to the completion of the aviation fuel pipeline – the beginning stage in the construction of the new Beijing Daxing Int’l Airport.
Dimerco shipped the vital 33 tons of valves for the pipeline from Milan, Italy to Zhengzhou, China by cross-border train freight, saving the customer nearly three weeks transit time compared to ocean shipments previously also handled by Dimerco. Additionally, the parts were delivered on time to three destinations along the route of the pipeline during a major national holiday in China.
On average, train freight is 70% cheaper than air freight, up to 20 days faster than ocean freight and can be GPS tracked more effectively. Utilizing its dedicated Dimerco Value Plus System® and the latest module, ‘eRMS – Railway Freight Management System‘, specifically designed to manage cross-border train freight, the company was to coordinate each leg of the journey ensuring smooth end-to-end transition between road and rail, handling complex customs clearance requirements at the borders and keeping the customer informed at each stage.
CEO Mr. Edward Lin comments: “At Dimerco we make sure to keep abreast of latest trends and regulations, so that we can provide optimized, efficient and cost-effective solutions for our customers, based on their specific requirements. In this case, we recognized that cross-border train freight would provide the fastest route to destination. However, to deliver a seamless solution, it was necessary to work closely with our long-term trusted strategic partner in Italy and deploy Dimerco’s experience in train freight and technology to manage the complexities involved.”
Key to the success of the enterprise was Dimerco’s dedicated Cross-Border Train Freight (CBTF) Task Force Team that monitors and analyzes the performance and freight capacity of each rail route on a weekly basis.
Team leader of CBTF, Ms. Lexi Zhang, explained: “We were able to take the initiative to adjust the documentation, monitor onsite loading and personally oversee customs clearance while communicating closely with the customer and our strategic partners to ensure everything went to plan. As a result, Dimerco’s performance efforts were pivotal in keeping the construction of the new Beijing Daxing Int’l Airport on schedule.”
