Dimerco Express Corporation (5609) today announced the consolidated sales revenue for the month of April 2024. The consolidated sales revenue of April 2024 is NTD 1, 939 million, an increase of 15.0% compared to April 2023. The consolidated sales revenue of April 2024 YTD is NTD 7,388 million, an increase of 5.5% compared to the same period last year.
In April, the airfreight market, apart from the impact of the Middle East crisis on routes from Asia to Europe, the global market remains stable. However, the continued demand for eCommerce goods, artificial intelligence chips, and servers is driving up airfreight demand. As consumer demand is rebounding and a more significant growth is expected in the third quarter of this year, the airfreight market is also expected to experience more significant growth.
As for the ocean freight market in April, although the delivery of new container ships has surged, the market has managed to maintain balance. In March, 41 new container ships were delivered, adding capacity for 260,000 TEUs, and in April, 2 more ships were delivered, adding capacity for 20,000 TEUs. Despite the influx of capacity, the increase in idle fleet was modest, rising from 0.7% in March to only 0.9%. Adjustments by ocean carriers to divert cargo around the Cape of Good Hope have resulted in the need for an additional 5-9% of capacity during transit, effectively addressing the issue of excess capacity while maintaining supply-demand balance.
