What are the documents required for Import in Canada?
A commercial invoice and packing list is required for import. Additional documents and certificates may be required depending on the nature of the commodity. If you would like Dimerco to handle the customs brokerage, a signed POA is also required.
Do you offer customs brokerage services?
Dimerco Canada has a partner brokerage house that we seamlessly work with to offer brokerage services as a one-stop shop.
Do you handle crossboarder trucking to and from the US?
As a Canada freight forwarder, we offer LTL and FTL trucking through our experienced trucking partners who service any location within Canada and the US.
What if I have cargo for multiple destinations in Canada or the USA? Do I need to ship each shipment separately?
Dimerco can offer efficient shipping solutions for cargo destined for multiple destinations within Canada or the USA. We can consolidate shipments into a single container and then segregate and dispatch them to their respective locations, taking into consideration factors such as location, transportation requirements, and customs regulations. This approach can help you save time and money while ensuring your cargo is delivered safely and on time.
Do you offer Canada warehousing services and fulfilment?
While Dimerco Canada does not have its own warehouse in Canada, we do partner with other 3PL companies in Canada to satisfy all warehousing needs, including storage, pick and pack, distribution, and sorting. We manage it all as your single point of contact.
Does Dimerco Canada handle shipping across Canada?
Our Canada freight forwarding services are offered from Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. These offices cover all of Canada, including all provinces and territories. Generally Alberta and Saskatchewan are handled by our Vancouver office. Toronto handles Manitoba. Montreal handles the Eastern provinces and territories can be handled by Vancouver or Toronto.
Does Dimerco handle DG shipping in Canada?
As a freight forwarder in Canada, Dimerco is licensed to handle both import and export DG shipments.
Is it possible for DIMERCO to handle DG packaging for export shipments?
Dimerco Toronto can offer DG packaging in Canada through a third party and can coordinate associated DG packing, labeling and certifcation needed for export shipping.
Do I need to register for CARM if I am importing to Canada?
Yes, all importers will need to register on the CBSA assessment and revenue management CARM Client Portal. Cargo will NOT be cleared without CARM account.

Can I import into Canada if I do not have a physical entity or not registered as an importer?
Yes, a Canadian business number must be obtained, It takes 3-5 business days to apply for business number in Canada.
Are importers allowed to have multiple brokers?
Yes, importers need to delegate all brokers as their Canadian Custom Broker on CARM client portal.
Can you provide warehousing services in Greater Toronto?
Yes, as a 3PL company in Canada, Dimerco offers many warehousing services, including palletization, shrink-wrapping, labelling and sorting. Additionally we offer short-term and long-term storage solutions.
How frequent are ocean sailings?
From most parts of the world there are weekly sailings and bi-weekly sailings. Commonly, from Asia Pacific there are weekly sailings to global destinations including Canada. As a Canada freight forwarder, Dimerco Canada can advise you on shipping options and sailing times.
How does cargo move from the port to inland Canada locations?
Cargo destined for inland areas of Canada is moved by rail service, which covers from west (Vancouver ) all the way down to the East ( Montreal and Halifax). There are other options, but rail service is the cheapest and is offered all inclusive as a part of ocean freight.

Dimerco’s 3PL services in Canada also include sea/truck service as a solution to bypass rail/port wait times and congestion. Sea/truck service transit time is 4-5 days from Vancouver to Toronto so it’s a great alternative to rail for rush cargo. We also have the ability to air cargo from ports if faster service is needed, which is known as sea/air service.
