Global freight forwarder Dimerco Express has set up in-house devanning services at its San Francisco operation which will speed up the delivery process by between 3 to 5 days. Compared with other Container Freight Stations (CFS) handling Less Container Loads (LCL), the onsite capability means Dimerco can shorten the pick-up time by targeting the earliest available appointment and the load can be devanned on the same day.
The new service began at the end of April after Dimerco applied to US Customs for bonded warehouse certification ready to receive the consignment of ironing embossing press machinery and parts. Traveling by ocean from Shenzhen, China the total load weighing 7,539kg, measuring 51.5 CBM, and comprising 24 pallets and 31 rolls, and the first consol box arrived in San Francisco on May 10th.
Without the need to secure 3rd party devanning and having its own bonded warehouse ensures Dimerco has more control over shipments and in this case a smoother distribution to the consignee in Northern California as well as the multimodal transport to inland states. Dimerco’s 50+ years of logistics experience also proved invaluable as the Shenzhen team arranged a headload for the largest cargo at the point of origin so that it could be delivered to the customer directly within the container and to the customer’s specified timeline.
Dimerco’s Central Service Center (CSC) said: “Dimerco listens to worldwide customers while most of freight forwarders only outsource 3rd party devanning services. Gearing up to provide a full service puts us in the position to manage and control the whole delivery process and accommodate customers’ urgent or specialized requests, further enhancing our credentials as seasoned professionals in the seamless handling of large and heavy consignments.”
