No, but we partner with a bonded warehouse that handles storage, pick & pack, stock control, and distribution services.
How many custom brokerage agents are allowed for each company?
Each company can have up to 5 agents
How long does customs clearance take for ocean shipments in Malaysia?
Usually, it usually takes 2-3 days (Depends on vary location in Malaysia) upon complete documentation received, exclude Shipment involve Import Licence or custom examination
How can an importer apply for a permit or license for controlled items?
Importers can apply directly through Government Agencies or via an agent. We always encourage importer to check the correct HS Code prior importation and get Import permit to be apply respectively before any importation into Malaysia. Work with your Malaysia 3PL Service Provider
Why is my shipment classified as a rejected import?
There are three main reasons:
• Misrepresentation: Declaring an item incorrectly to avoid duties or restrictions.
• Undervaluing: Stating an item’s value as less than it is to reduce duties or avoid restrictions.
• Omission: Failing to declare all items in the shipment, which is considered smuggling if discovered during inspection.
What is a Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse (LMW)?
An LMW is established under section 65A of the Customs Act 1967, to carry out manufacturing activities including warehousing of Raw Materials and finished goods, at the same time, LMW companies are also allowed to carry value-added activities subject to compliance. Why is the HS Code important?
A correct HS Code will ease down your importation into Malaysia, and it is a must as a compliance of Royal Custom Malaysia Regulations and avoid unnecessary penalty. At the same time, a correct HS code will help to identify correct tariff rates, sales tax and exercise duty (IF ANY) for any product. In short, accurate classification of HS Code is essential to avoid delays, penalties and incorrect payment of duty and taxes to Malaysia government.
What is the difference between a Free Zone, Free Commercial Zone, and Free Industrial Zone?
A Free Zone is a specific area where business can operate with minimal custom checks and tax exemption for international trade. Basically In Malaysia we have 2 types of Free Zone : Free commercial zone (FCA) & Free Industrial Zone (FIZ)
- Free Commercial Zone: Area created to promote commercial and trade activities in Malaysia. Which include activities like trading (excluding retail), breaking bulk, grading, repacking, relabelling, and transit. No retail trading can be allowed in FCZ, except Rantau Panjang Free Zone, Stulang Laut Free Zone, and Bukit Kayu Hitam free zone.
- Free Industrial Zone: Gazetted area for manufacturing which produce product for Export.
Why is complete paperwork necessary for customs clearance, and who is responsible for it?
Complete paperwork ensures smooth import/export processes and includes all required documents for customs examination, duty payment, and shipment delivery. The shipper is responsible for providing these documents, including correct HS Code for custom clearance process.
Why is it necessary to have an appointed agent or authorized broker for customs clearance?
According to Section 90 of the Customs Act 1967, it is mandatory to appoint an agent or authorized broker to act on behalf of the shipper or consignee for matters related to the declaration and clearance of goods. This appointment must be approved by customs upon the submission of complete documentation to the Royal Malaysian Customs Department. The approval lead time varies depending on the specific location within Malaysia.
